Dornier Hinneburg GmbH, in cooperation with a nuclear power plant and a German smelting company, established a process for the specific clearance of scrap metal for recycling and has been implementing it since January 2022.
Our services at a glance:
- Carrying out preliminary planning to analyse and review the requirements for the specific clearance of scrap metal for recycling and its implementation in the power plant clearance
- Reviewing the possibilities for disregarding proof of compliance with the values for surface contamination
- Preparation of a process description with the necessary process steps (dismantling, sorting, processing, packaging, quality assurance, decision measurement, transport (conventional), incoming goods inspection, melting, preparation of melting report)
- Preparation of a risk analysis report with intervention concept
- Preparation of a report to check compliance with the 10 μSv/a criterion
- Review and, if necessary, creation of necessary documentation for the implementation of the specific clearance (checklists, packing lists, internal instructions, etc.)
- Support in discussions with authorities and experts
- Support and coordination in the implementation of cold and hot handling tests as well as in regular handover after successful establishment of the clearance process
